It was revealed during Monday evening’s Village Council meeting that two organizations have filed legal objections to the Village’s current plan for the creation of additional affordable housing within Ridgewood’s boundaries.
West Bergen Mental Healthcare, Inc. and Russo Acquisitions, LLC have filed separate challenges to Ridgewood’s affordable housing plan as was submitted to the Council on Affordable Housing late last year.
Both challengers want to construct multi-unit housing at different locations on South Broad Street. West Bergen Mental Healthcare wants to construct a 10-unit dwelling on property it currently owns. Russo Acquisitions, LLC reportedly wants to construct a 5-story, 100+ unit apartment building on property formerly occupied by Brogan Cadillac.
The Village has formed a mediation committee in an attempt to resolve differences with the challengers out of court. Deputy Mayor Keith D. Killion heads the mediation committee.
Stick to your guns Keith!

the town needs to do something about broad st its going down real fast make parking and condos.
Board of Ed better double that bond to 96 million if these apartments go up.
Where is the Master Plan!!!! If they are willing to build high density housing then they had better plan for increased enrollment. The boe and council are living year to year and project to project.
“Builders Remedy” Lawsuits usually spell D I S A S T E R for communities like Ridgewood. The Mt. Laurel decision has caused many towns to accept multi-unit developes over the objections of local residents. Communities are forced to provided increased services to sustain these developements, the most expensive of which is provided for increased number of students in local schools. The taxes paid for these new units do not cover enough to make the development a benefit to any community. This is one of the reasons NJ property taxes are through the roof!
939,
I hear you and I challenge the residents of Ridgewood with the title "Esq." after their name to help. Reasonable development, ok, but builider's remedy OVERDEVELOPMENT, NO!
We are already built out - go North, West and South.
i thought ridgewood made financial contributions to the state since we were built out...and as such...have MET our "Mt Laurel' obligations...which would nullify any 'builders remedy' BS lawsuit. Oh...and while I'm typing...all your limousine liberals were supposed to 'welcome' diversity. I guess not? F@@@@ing hippocrytes!
